My Town of Island Harbour - Fogo Island

I took this one last night, just as the sun was about to dip below the horizon. In the distance you can see my seaside village of Island Harbour. (population 180)
The two humps are part of the island that sits in a small protected bay directly in front of our house, as seen in many of my photographs.
I used my A200 with 18-55mm lens (RAW) handheld, at 200 ISO, f/8, at 1/30th sec., and lightened it up a bit with PSP9.

The second shot (taken right in front of my house) was just a spur of the moment experiment, but I like the way it turned out. I think my website will soon need a section dedicated to weathered fence posts! This one was also taken with my A200, but I used my old Minolta 50mm f/1.7 lens, which gives me consistently good results.

The last one is part of my attempt at learning to photograph flowers. It was also shot using the Minolta 50mm f/1.7 lens.

Excellent shots, Glen. Love the 2nd and third. But if I had to pick just one I would opt for the fence.

Hi Glen - three very different phots but all interesting :D. Great light in #1, love the conversion in #2, and I'll go for #3 as my favourite as I'm having a flower phase at the moment. I also really like my Min 50/1.7. When I was on holiday recently I started using it as my walk-around on a couple of days - it has that great bright 1/1.7 aperture and the dof effects are great.

Another very good set Glen. Looks like you have now mastered flowers
in that one shot. ;^)

Hi Camperbc,

The wooden fence is beautiful in its simple form...Black and white definitely works!
I also am impressed with the glowing pink light at sunset that seem to change the atmosphere of the whole island and even that orange flower on the side of the road...A charming land piece.

Lovely blue flower in the third... : )
