Went along to the free airshow at Sunderland on Saturday and got a few good shots and also a bit of sunburn (not used to heat up North)

The show opened with the RAF Falcons parachute display team



This was the Typhoon Eurofighter as the pilot pressed the LOUD pedal



The Harrier also made a return to the show after a long absence, quite amazing to see a jet fighter stand still in the air and then go backwards

Nice shots. It was suggested we should drop in on Sunday, we were at the Sage for Jakob Dylan's concert - wonderful. It is the first time he has ever performed in the UK except in London.

I first saw a Harrier do that in the mid-1970s when I was in the U.S. Marine Corps. The USMC was the only U.S. military service to use these British jump jets. I think that later there was a new joint British and American design around the 1980s so probably your photo is the newer one.

The Harrier is amazing! Causing all that pull and stir on the water surface is worth watching for long moments...

The RAF Falcons seem to have created some interesting and seamless patterns while in the air! They look like a flock of same-species butterflies migrating...

Three really interesting pictures Paul - the Harrier is my favourite, as Yildiz describes, with the down-draft on to the sea.

We are the only service to have pilots with the cajones to sit still and lay down fire!

My friend, Col. Jack Jackson, has more time in a Harrier than anyone in the world. He was chief test pilot for McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing) and flew it in combat missions from Vietnam to Bosnia. The original is British, the newer one joint design and awesome!
