A Special friend was able to obtain some VIP passes to the Air show. We had a very good time and a very good spot for the show. The first shot is in fact a boat. ... The boat served as the marker for the middle of the air show and the piots use it as a reference.

I really enjoyed the shots Glenn.
But I guess you have much much better shots there than those 3 posted here. The Thunderbolt shots (I guess that's the name of those yellow planes) are really really beautiful, specially the closer looks. The pictures are very neat though dust spots are visible in some.
The jet fighters are quite good, specially #44 with the hot air coming out.
One thing as a comment for future opportunities: try to use a slower shutter speed with old planes with propellers, the rotation should be "feeled", imho

Hi Javelin - very nice pictures - there were more ships than I was expecting from the title of the thread . I esepcially like the shots of the display by the yellow prop planes - a bit of blue sky really makes the image, although as the Doc says, the frozen propellor does distract a tiny bit. I also like the gallery - is that something you host yourself?

Thanks guys. I agree about the shutter speed. I was using the 500m Reflex and 70-300G and the variety of sky you see was all happening at the same time and I wasn't always able to kepe ahead of it settings wise

Oh and the Yellow plans are Harvards.

Birma: thats just one of the canned galleries that comes with lightroom and I put it on some ftp space I have on a web server.

Canon 500mm F4 ( I assume this was the long lens the pros who shot this was carrying could have been longer he had 2 serups the longer was either the 500mm or the 800mm) vs 500M F8 reflex

Some really good shots there Javelin, I especially liked the FA18, F16 shots, that F16 pilot looks like he was pulling some serious G's. I also liked the B25, I wonder why the dorsal turret is missing? maybe it's because it was converted into an 'attack' version perhaps, with all those extra guns in the nose. There are some spectacular and dangerous looking shots of the aerobatics as well, good work, I know how difficult it is too get good plane shots.

Great series Javelin.... I like the shots of the AT-6 Texans in formation. (perhaps I am prejudiced being from Texas.) I haven't been to an airshow in years... Time to try out the a700 in some aerobatics shots... BTW if you see a Japanese Zero in an air show, chances are it is a modified AT-6.. John

Thanks Guys. Greg i'm not sure about that turret. they have one for it, it might have been damaged or maybe (like some of the lancaser parts) so rare that they don't want to chance breaking it. The F-16 pilot was letting it all hang out for sure. the FA18 pilot was flying like it was going to break. these are early F18's and they may be wanting to take it easy on then until they are replaced with the F35's I know they have some structural problems that stopped them from buying more.

Juanito Those AT6's (we call them Harvards) are at every airshow. they don't train in them anymore but the people that had flown them love them a lot. They just look great in the sky!!
