Shoot during an event last Monday
A850 + SAM85f2.8, It was the first time I was using this lens and I think I'll like it

My friend (since primary school) Diego, from Peru, spent a couple of weeks here in NYC and Boston.
NEX-5 1/30 at f: 3.2 ISO 1600, lit by his laptop screen

NEX-5 1/40 at f:2.8 ISO 200; lit by a Mecablitz 28 CS-2 (on board flash -2EV)

That's a fine lens, Pako.

Good closeups and I like the first one for the composition and the fine, no-CA reflections on the eyeballs.

As I said earlier. I'm very interested to compare side by side this lens with the Samyang 85/1.4 and since no one's performing it I'll do it myself. Expecting my 85/2.8 on Friday.
I would be glad if you would suggest exactly what standard tests to do.

Hi Pako - nice shots - I prefer the laptop lighting - I guess it depends on what the subject is viewing so not always a reliable means of lighting a shot .

I am confused by the week number. My calendar says that 18-24 October is week 43, and last Monday was therefore week 42?

Laptop light worked because he's looking down -to the laptop, if he was looking at me, the light would look weird, scary...

I checked at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_week_date
from Monday 11 to Sunday 18, week 41 -but they can be wrong...

Well you learn all sorts of thing on this forum, besides photography. The complexities of the date and ISO week numbering is now added to the list . Now to add a photograph to the thread. Mmm. What was I doing last week ... ?

Ok. Last week I was on holiday and there is another thread with the landscape the shots I took. As part of this holiday I was also visiting family, and one interesting picture I took was of my father-in-law playing his Clàrsach, or Gaelic Harp. If thiese things had model numbers it would be known as the "29 String Gu Bràth".

This particular harp is a baby, under 12 months old, and only just beginning to sound right. This is to do with the sound box developing a "belly" as it bows under the tension on the strings, and the whole instrument "settling". My father-in-law has only recently taken up the Clàrsach (you may notice he has coloured some of the 'strings'), but he is the sort of person that just picks up musical instruments and seems profficient straight away (to a non-musical person such as myself anyway!). He and another harp playing friend had a "jam" one evening while we were there, but I was too mesmerised (and maybe had consumed too much uisge beatha ) to take pictures.

Fascinating instrument Birma, good too see traditional instruments are being kept alive, but I bet I can't go down to the music store and get a set of strings off the shelf for a Clarsach ha ha; are they all the same diameter? or go from long thick to short thin?

You're right that the strings vary, I think that some are brass, some steel and some may even be silver, but I think he may be kidding me as he has a glint in his eye when he tells the story about the strings. I'll have to try and get to the bottom of the story.
