This represents my first foray into lightening photography. I posted this on another and received a couple of great ideas on how to get these type of shots. In this case I just used timing and luck.
How do the rest of you approach lightening photography?

Clean work! I have not seen any lightning in months, maybe years. We just don't get it very often now in Scotland. Plenty of clouds, plenty of rain, not too much by way of electrical storms.

Nice catch!
Did you plan the shot or did you just happened to be around a great scenery when the lightning stuck?

I was on vacation with family and friends...I saw the storm roll in and thought this would be a perfect time to try
