I think these are underexposed, not used to the meter on the A100 yet, its more accurate a default than the NEX....I will soon get used to it again

They are not underexposed, any more and the sublte highlights like the sides of the lighthouse would be lost. They are very contrasty because of the Vivid setting, Landscape might hold a touch more shadow detail.

Yes, the VIVID obviously really cranks up the contrast, I dont remember using it before, I like the effect though, Its still a very good camera, I will post some more as I re-aquaint myself with the A100
I must try VIVID, but back off the contrast a little in camera next time

Nice alternative shots of the vernacular architecture of St. Ives, Vaughan.

The deserted scene looking towards the lighthouse and the stone wall is striking while the boats are very colourful making good photo subjects.

Vaughan, these are impressive pictures. I like them. If you use PS or Elements (or similar) I would use the Shadows/Highlight slider in picture three particularly to lighten the dark areas (pier wall) and perhaps getting a little more definition into the white coloured houses. A touch of contrast may or may not be required thereafter. Just a suggestion.

Nice work, (although I'm not sure I like the VIVID setting myself), the only drawback to the A100 (I wouldn't part with mine), is you can't go chasing shadow detail too much.

Greg, in retrospect, the VIVID setting wasnt a great idea here, but with some PP they look great, these were virtually straight out of the cam, too much contrast, but I think the a100 is pretty good for shadow detail in general, I have had issues with later models (A300 and even NEX3) wrt dense shadow....IQ wise (in reasonable light) I think the a100 is still very good and net really any worse than the most modern sensors...hey, and it was a steal on E-Bay
