I thought I would share this image as some may be interested.

I shot my first wedding as main photographer at the weekend, and when I saw the venue I knew I wanted to get this shot. The B+G absolutely love it (A700 + Minolta 28-135, Sony HVL off camera shot through an umbrella.

You created just the right amount of off-camera flash light that blends well into the lights and colours of the cityscape in the background.

Lovely couple that look very happy and well-adjusted to your photoshooting requirements. : )

Super shot Paul - I can see why the B+G love it . I imagine it was quite nerve wracking having the responsibility, but I guess this will be easier now with one under the belt?

Fantastic start to a career in wedding photography. Must give you confidence you can crack it. Looks to me like Newcastle/Gateshead and River Tyne.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone, great couple to work with and both families were good fun. Now I have to learn album design as well hiccup!

The location is Newcastle upon Tyne - the roof of the Vermont hotel, at twilight.

Yes, it's good. The photographic side is sorted - technically it's where it needs to be. The posing and direction of the B&G is good enough, but with experience and I'd say some attendance at seminars or demos of posing would give you the pointers to refine that and put it beyond criticism. There are plenty of experienced professional wedding specialists who would be pleased with this shot.

Hi again Paul,

I've studied this photo throughout the day from time to time as I had some time on my hands and the only light related little problem that seems to draw my attention is the fact that the groom's face is in the dark, even though the genuine smile is recognizable. A little subtle lighting to give away the expression on the grooms face might have richened this beautiful shot. : )

A good shot only deserves to get better and better!!

brilliant not surprised the B & G are delighted with it.

Great - so different from the usual which is what everyone is looking for I guess.

Thanks again for the comments, I did notice the shadows could do with slightly lifting on the grooms face and will do in the final version.

As I said this is a new venture for me, although I have shot the odd celebration or two in the past, so I am reading and learning all I can. The key speaker at the upcoming photoworld day couldn't be more apt for me at present - if any you are going please say hello.

The couple are keen to have a range of styles of images in the album and here is another that I like. I sent this to their mobiles along with a couple of others so they had some images to look at whilst on honeymoon, she was looking at her husband to be and I just loved the look.
