This is my first shots with a55. I am new to photography, so your comments and advice are welcomed.

Nice beginning. (not to say great start)
But... try to crop a bit.
Last shot is great, but again you need to crop a bit from the top.

Hi Anna. All three are in focus and really nicely exposed . I wish my first three, or even last three were as nice. Nothing I would change in the first two. Perhaps in the last there is a lot of space at the top and the chap has his legs chopped off. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I don't agree with cropping the top. In the first image 122.jpg there is a stone in the wall, upper right, which is important to the composition and the feeling of space above the subjects is good. While some slight crop to a 10 x 8 shape might benefit 177.jpg, the camera alignment has kept the architecture fairly straight and I think it has been carefully handled. The centre shot is a I think not improved by the garbage on the ground at the bottom, and maybe could better be cropped both top and bottom to recompose the shot and remove this.

Great light coming into that corner of the building, and great colours from the old stonework and paint.

It was very cold that day and all the shots were taken very fast. I could improve some of them, but I wasn't able to. I hope next time I will be more attentive.

The garbage was left on purpose, I thought it might give some interesting look But I guess it didn't leave the impression I wanted.

A neat start-off from you! : )

I liked the third shot the mosst for a couple of reasons; the human models' facial features and the body language match the cold, derelict and old stone and wood elements. A good low angle, aiming upwards from waist up of the male model gives a nice perspective vertically.

I think the smile on the male model in the first shot sort of killed an otherwise good shot...Maybe a slanted, smileless sideward look would work better.

You are very astute. I do seek cinematographic photo stories. Hopefully when days go warmer I'll do my best and take more photos with cinematic look.

I especially like that last one, DSC00177.jpg. I wouldn't crop the top; I think it is great as it is. Looks like it could be the cover of an album. Are your friends musicians?

Thank you I also had the same feeling, pity they are not musicians, cause they could have an album cover.
