Maybe this should be in the weather thread, but wanted to alert fellow british members to this site i came across when helping a friend on his book on the Pilgrims' Way:-

http://www.visitchurches.org.uk/findachurch/

In Kent alone there are 17 old unused churches, many dating back to Norman times which are all open at weekends and some 340 odd in Britain. I'm not, in any sense, religious but do find these old buildings fascinating. Yesterday I visted 3:-

And the great thing is you're indoors so no weather worries!

I like architecture, old building design, methods of constuction, materials etc. so I like no.3 the most from that standpoint, followed by no.2, but artistically speaking no.1 wins, for me too.

Greg, you have provided a nice summary of my own reaction to these photos.

It's also interesting to me how a image like the first one can be so simple, but at the same time be so aesthetically pleasing to me.

With best wishes,
