I came across this train while out shooting this weekend. I don't see trains very often where I live, so I was glad to have the opportunity.
I'll start this thread out, but please feel free to post any train or train related photos you have here. John

Hi John,

Great start for the Trains Thread!

Love the closeups with low wide angles but I also like the last shot that shows the vernacular of these train stops. ie; that showel thrown aside rather randomly and carelessly; the wooden poles that are slanted sideways; the apparatus that's worn,, corroded but still functioning are somethings that pertain to sites with train tracks and active trains.

A pretty nostalgic site..

I've been promising the kids a trip to the Museum of Transportation this spring. Looks like I'll have to grab some train shots while there.

The 'burb I live in is one of St. Louis' original suburb because we had a train station, and business owners would take the train in to the City in the morning, return for lunch and go back again, all on the train. Now the only trains that come through are freighters a 2am, blowing their horns. I often hear them off in the distance.

Great start to this thread John. I think (hope) we will be seeing more great train shots.

Here is a slightly older design - a steam engine from the Severn Valley Railway taken last Christmas Eve when boarding the "Santa Special" .

Here is a Canadian Pacific, today late afternoon.

Delicious loco for the 'Santa Special', Birma, all steam and conductor choice intact. : ) Must be a fun ride...

And a 'Canadian Pacific Special' as I call it right after Santa Special. How the loco designs differ from land to land... Fine shot, David Antony. : )

Nice one DA. North American locomotives always look really "business like" compared to UK ones, as if they are meant for more serious work. Then there is the moose catcher on the front as well

David Antony, you're very lucky to have so many Canadian train types speeding close by your highways. : ) That's a nice industrial-looking one...almost robotic with no sight of human accomodation.
