A visit to St Abbs

We had a drive up to St Abbs on the South East Scotish coasy yesterday, what a lovely place - we also popped into Eyemouth on the way back.

Hope you tried the little café near the harbour - busy, busy, busy but nice place and all the girls working there with the oddest Border accents you ever heard.

Hi David,

Yes we went and had a drink in the cafe, it was very nice, the staff were very pleasant, strangely the whole town was very quiet, lovely place though and I intend to go back.

On the walk down to the sea front from the out of town carpark we passed a field with a very young foal, it was just finding its feet.


We then went to Eyemouth for fish and chips, some colourful boats in the harbour



I liked this shot of the gull and also I think the boat name sums up the gulls attitude (always hopeful of a feed)



We finished up at Doxford Hall north of Alnwick, for a quick visit as I have a wedding to shoot there in October and wanted to look around - very impressive place and they serve wonderful afternoon high teas.

That is a lovely place Paul, I especially like the village, safe harbour the breakwall and boats, actually I like all of the photos, the horse and foal is great too.

Thanks for the kind comments, it really is a nice part of the world.

Some technical details, all images taken with Sony A700. Two lenses used KM 17 - 35 and Sigma 70 - 200 f2.8.

The first three images were all stitched panoramas (7 pics, 6 pics and 10 pics respectively) PTGUI used for the stitching.
HDR was used for the lifeboat station (HDR Darkroom used for the tone-mapping) 3 images taken using the 2EV exposure bracketing feature of the A700.
The other images were all single images.
All images started off as cRAW files, converted using CS3.
