One of the advantages of always carrying the camera is that you can photograph anything at any time. Such is the case near my residence. Living near a military base that is going on it's 8th decade of existence means that surrounding buildings tend to be old and dilapidated. The base has been given new life as a result of base realignment decisions made in the last few years. That means the surrounding real estate gets a face lift as well. This destruction is captured for your viewing pleasure, or not. After all, who likes looking at garbage.

That's a neat series JBT... I especially like the humor in the '24 hour door service' shot. I do believe however, that one man's garbage is another man's photo op.....This strikes me as an interesting and challenging thread that could be started.. I'd feel confident that most of us here on PCA have this kind of thing near them!
Kudos for always having the camera with you all the time. I do too...

I've missed lots of things getting demolished here, problem is it's there forever then suddenly it's gone one day without warning. That looks like it had been unnocupied for some time jbtaylor.

Juanito200- the door shot was begging to be taken. Right place. Right time. I agree with you comment about taste and you will see in one of the shots below, I used a standard landscape technique to emphasize just that point.
Greg- yes. The street that fronts the base is down trodden with new buildings starting to show up. I believe developers know when to start projects and as personnel are starting to show up with more coming in the next 18 months, the time is right. That particular building has been unoccupied for several years. I had become numb to it's existence and was quite surprised to see what one day's activity could do.

Inspirational shots! : ) We're going through a similar phase in the garden now, demolishing the rotten parts of the pool and reconstructing the walls and the water insulation after years of neglection. Your photos depict something I walk into nowadays. : ))
