Bredon Hill

I went for a walk on Friday to a hill near my home that I can see from my house, and frequently drive by, but I have never climbed. The views were great, even if the light was a bit drab. I took a rucksack full of kit and the tripod which made the walking slightly less enjoyable, but at least the Nex was lighter than the A700 .

The 19th century folly on the hill top is now used only as a mobile phone mast.

A couple of in-camera panoramas. It takes me a few attempts, but I'm quite pleased with the results.

While I was there a group of men arrived to erect a further temporary mast of some sort. The isolated hill's position in such a low lying area must make it popular for telecommunications. It does spoil the atmosphere a bit though - and my mobile reception was still rubbish!

Isn't the last panorama a bit overexposed, just a bit?
I was going to say that the stone in the second shot looked much like an elephant, but hesitated a while and went on wikipedia, where it is sated that the Banbury stone is also called elephant stone...

Thanks Doc . I have toned down the second panorama - I agree it looked over exposed.

Well spotted with the Elephant Stone! I didn't realise the story about this big rock until I was checking up on the hill this evening. If I had then I would have tried some different angles on just the stone. You did well to spot it . Something for the next visit.
