Spent three different morning on subsequent days at Mesa Arch. Three beautifully different manifestations of morning light.

Another take on this scene, in black and white

I could visit Utah every year. It really is quite beautiful.

Greg, look again. Those "circles" are real and part of the scene!Greg Beetham wrote:With such a great scene I can forget the horizontal row of circles from whatever (dew or rain on the lens?), it's a magic mood shot for sure.

Yeah, I have never seen anywhere else where the interplay between light and the natural world changes so rapidly and where (from a photographic point of view) it can change from ho-hum to WOW (or vice versa) in an instant. I think it's how light reflects off the sandstone and how features can receive both direct and reflected light at the same time.Almazar80 wrote:Lonnie, the three days I spent at Mesa Arch was really an educational experience on how light interacts with the earh. I posted a black and white picture as an addendum to the original post. One can never get tired of studying and photographing the variations of light on such a beautiful land. You're lucky that you live in that part of the world.
