Using my Minolta 70-210 f/4 (Beercan) on the Nex 5 with manual focus has given the lens a whole new lease of life in my kit bag. I enjoyed some early morning shots this weekend (see here http://www.photoclubalpha.com/forum/vie ... 593#p61593 )and then we went out to the same spot for a family walk later on. I took the same set up, this time with a monopod rather than tripod. First of all, a couple of long range shots, cropped in a bit, but the targets are around 4 miles away.

The second shot could have gone in the "where I live" thread as that is the estate of houses where we live .

Here is a different view, but it gets confusing where you're 3 and a bit as one bunch of houses looks much like another I guess .

I have also changed PP from Elements to Lightroom 3.5. I really like the workflow but my 5 year old PC struggles to keep up with the s/w and the 14Mb raws. (I'm saving up some questions to all you Lightroom users.)

What a cute model!

I like the pale grass image most. It has a sort of eternal feel becauseof the blueish teint on my screen. Nice!

How beautiful is that place! I'm jealous, and that's that. Don't talk to me about "home blindness." I really like the tones in that grass shot, though.

Despite enjoying the Beercan so much I am very interested in the SEL 55-210 - looks like it will be £269 here in the UK (inc. £30 Sony cash back), doesn't seem to be in stock yet. The reduced weight and OSS would be a real benefit for hand held shots. But will it have that certain something?

These and your latest shots from early hours to later hours in other threads are great. I also loved the Grass shot with the silvery greyness against a sweet relevant bokehed background.

I almost couldn't recognize Tilly. She's grown so much and her face has acquired a more mature expression which still is rich with a twist of mischief that shows in the twinkle in her eyes.

It won't be long before she's as tall as you are and taking your cameras for granted!

Tilly is certainly sprouting upwards! When taking her picture it helps that for her, Daddy waving a camera about, has always been a normal part of going for a walk.

It is exciting to think what cameras will be like in 10 or 20 years time as she grows up. I wonder how many terrabytes of storage I will have filled with her pictures by then?

Just realised that I've become a "Subsuming Vortex of Brilliance" <cough, cough> I hope my galaxy will be able to cope without me. Doc is due to transmogrify next - what ever will he become?

Ha ha love that last one Birma! The beercan is doing good work with those long range scenes too, sort of Charlie-esc.

I think the Beercan would be too heavy for Charlie's kit bag. Some more exotic telephoto prime would be required Seriously though, it may well be Charlies awesome mountain shots that have made me start using more telephoto shots for landscapes.
