First Shots from Zurich

Unread post by aramkostanyan »

Hi,

Recently I moved to Zurich, Switzerland.
I am doing my master's degree in physics here, at ETH Zurich.
Here are couple of my first shots of Zurich.
I thought that there will be more Photoclub Alpha members in Zurich, to meet and talk.

Hi Aram,

Pretty nice weather in Zurich and good light. I like the last as well as the swan shot the best..

Don't forget to send shots of the variable weather shots of Switzerland from time to time; snow; rain; the lakes and the mountains...
: )

Fabulous shots Aram - I especially like the Swan. I hope you enjoy Zurich - should be a great place for mountain shots in the snow :D .

I've been to Zurich, once. It was at night, all I had was a Canon PowerShot with me, and all I did was change trains in the station. That's three mistakes I'll have to correct when I go there next!

Two more pictures from Zurich. At this time in the night.
I'd be happy about criticism towards my photographs, so I can learn and develop.

Good first three pictures! My opinion is that the swan would be much better (it is still good!) if it was photographed from a lower perspective.

Hi Aram - very interesting night scenes in Zurich. In the first there is some detail in the sky - it would be nice to see it more clearly, although I'm not sure how you would achieve this :D .

I'm not really a night scene expert myself Aram but they look the part too me. Maybe the last one has a slight lean too the left perhaps, but I like all the reflections in the water, and as Birma said there is a bright sky object visible in the first one, maybe it's Jupiter, I saw Jupiter quite bright in the sky here last night after sundown.

I agree with that, but the problem was that beyond the swam there where other birds and other things, so if I would go down a bit, they would be visible, so this was the best angle to get the swam alone.

Welcome back Doc. I was thinking why you r not here, then remembered that you should have got your new camera. )))
Waiting for your impressions

That bright dot over the tower is a star.
So I took adjustment brush in LR and increased its exposure by 4EV.
But I noticed a weird thing with LR. In the picture in LR you can see 5 stars. After adjustment brush in Library module I could see all 5 without zooming, however in Develop module I could see only 2 of them, unless I zoom in to 1:1 view. So in Library module I can see more details than in develop module. Did anyone have same kind of problems?

Hi Aram - could it be something to do with the Library module using the jpg embedded in the Raw, and develop using the actual Raw image? Just a guess :(
