Yes, it works well--so well that for a moment I thought it was a drawn illustration. With the night setting, the three pool tables in a large mostly empty room, neonish interior lighting, and just one pool player, it also has some of the lonely feel of Edward Hopper's painting "Nighthawks" (easily Googleable). I think it's an unusual, unique, and well done image.

It works brilliantly.

I agree about the "Hopperesque" quality of this shot. Interesting technically too. It appears to have been taken from a lower elevation yet the verticals seem too good to have been fixed in post-processing. Was it actually photographed from the same level, say across the road? Also, rather curiously, the right-hand lampshade appears to be burnt out. Or is it just a different shade?

The lights were all on. None burnt out. I was shooting from the parking lot from a tripod about 3 feet off the ground. The reason I was low is I didn't want the inside lights being crossed by the window frames. I was just lucky the shooters head was not behind one.
The shooter is actually my son. He was inside talking to the owner of the place and was goofing off at the same time. I waited till the other guy was out of the frame.

I think what is interesting to me is the size of the window itself, I don't remember ever seeing a window here as big as that in a brick wall.

Greg, maybe a steel beam is spanning the opening? Just a thought... It indeed is rather wide for a brick structure.

Thanks again all. I didn't notice the widow being so wide. This was a country srore before it was a pool hall. The entire building isn't much wider than you see here. Maybe a good 15 feet left of frame and almost nothing to the right.

Oh yeah, Tables are $5.00 an hour. Not really that bad. I just couldn't stand the smoke, cough, cough.
