a couple of sunsets from last week in thailand

on the island of koh chang with the a580 and zeiss 16-80mm, jpegs straight out of the camera, except for a bit of cropping

thanks Birma,that's my favourite too, it's sort of surreal, a lucky shot to be honest I went for the composition but I had no idea the colours and the depth would come out like that

Yes #2 is the best one, but I like them all actually. I think it's the favourable location of the fishing boat situated between the two islands 'just so' that makes that shot something special, as well as the dof and the paddlers of course.

the fishing boat was moored up greg so it was easy to get it between the islands,the difficult bit was getting it side on as the paddlers came there were always a few paddlers coming and going but the fishing boat was drifting at all angles and this one just caught it right with the paddlers, i was above knee deep in the water and used the reticulating screen on the 580, as I've said before the colours and dof were just luck,it had been raining for about 10 mins before and that probably gave the colours a lift and cleared the air

All are great. I agree with the others that the second shot has an added attractiveness, can't say why, but probably from the low angle shooting, or the position of important elements.
Third shot reminds me of romantic movies, except for those other silhouettes figuring in the shot.

Have to agree with the guys. : ) The second shot has more depth and intimacy to offer to the viewer.

The fact that you lowered the camera to level with the water surface actually gives a feel of half-submerged.
