Against the recent run of grey, dreary weather there was some sunshine here on Monday. This is one of my usual haunts close to home; just right for a quick early morning visit.

I was especially attracted to the winter trees with their elaborate network of branches and twigs.

The woodland was alive with small birds and squirrels - all far too wary and quick for me. It would have been a good challenge for a barrage of 70-400 SSMs .

First and second for me.

I have to agree, the winter trees (especially that first one) are gorgeous, and you've captured them nicely too!

Wow Birma the sky is clear of clouds that was a lucky break, the sunlight sure adds some zing to an image. As much as I like bracken and thickets for what is usually in it I have to say the first one is my fav closely followed by the second one.

I especially like the first image. Beautiful tree with a nice golden light shining in from a good angle. I like the second image as well, for I like sheep

Thank you Doc, Jcoffin, Greg, Mark and Ossie for you kind comments . The first shot could probably also go in the Reoccuring Places thread as I have been photographing it in the changing seasons for about a year now. I like the view but it means straddling a barbed wire fence surrounded by brambles . I think the 55mm on the SEL55-210 is just a bit too long. Perhaps I'll try a prime 50 next time.

I like the SEl 16 with SEL 55-210 as a Landscape combo. Using Lightroom has reduced my reliance on ND grad filters and so the kit bag continues getting lighter. The idea of trading in my A mount collection continues to become more tempting.

I can imagine you are tempted. I am too except for the birding I do. Using a Nex 3 on a 70-400G is a bit too much of a trade off

Both with Nex 5 and SEL 16mm.

I am undecided about the first one - there is a lot of empty space, but I like the proportions that it provides.

I like that first one, too, Birma, but it would be a really good shot if you had an HDR version and could lift the shadows in the trees and tower at the back.

The first and the second with the animal kingdom are my favourites also, Birma.

Weather and Sun does work for good photography in your local grounds.... : )
