Delicate Arch in Black and White

The classic
Delicate Arch in B&W. The Navajo sandstone glows so beautifully red at sunset, I'm usually on the fence about doing B&W conversions. I think this one came out ok.
4x5 crop
Focal length:24 mm
Exposure:1/25
Exposure bias:0 EV
Aperture: f/14
ISO speed:ISO 200
2 stop soft GND

I opt for the color one. I guess such "paysages" deserve color.

Yeah me too I like that colour photo of the arch, great lighting, is that a different one? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that one before from any angle.

Me too for the colour image - which is very good. I think there's too much shadow dominating the foreground in the B/W and the contrast isn't punchy enough.

It's the same one. It just shows what research (Google earth, TPE and others) along with getting your nose out of the guide book and opening your eyes and looking around can do for you....

Lonnie, I prefer the B&W photo. The only comment I have about it though is that, IMO, most of the blank sky should be cropped out to make it a horizontal shot which would result in about a 4:3 ratio.

Some may remember the uproar caused by photographer Michael Fatali in 2000 when he started fires at night to illuminate Delicate Arch for photos and caused a lot of damage. There was a big thread on photo.net at the time about it.

Was doing some snooping today and found this shot (not mine) but it shows where we were shooting from (the edge of the cliff on the upper left)...
