I haven't really ever tried portrait photography. This is my second outing. This is a friend of my wife, Jill. She is to wed Saturday. How did I do?
a850, CZ 24-70mm, Flash and Gary Fong. If you look hard you can see deer along the fence.

She looks lovely, Cosmonaut. The scene is very serene.

A fine shot Greg, though a bit of brightness for the background wouldn't hurt at all.

Thanks Yildiz, Thanks Doc. I did a levels adjustment before print so the BG was a little brighter. The sky was very dark grey due to a storm that had moved through. This is a replacement sky. I love PhotoShop..

I like the photo a lot. The bride is very relaxed and nice lighting.
Only thing I felt in-congruent is the barefoot with the formal dress.

I think that this is a very creative shot. The pose is most unusual. She must have had some faith in you to agree to do it but I bet she is pleased with the outcome.

Greg, I'll keep out of this as much of my life is spent viewing and publishing wedding and portrait work. There's a lot right with it, which is entirely down to what you don't know you shouldn't do, and also a fair amount wrong with it which is very detailed. I can give you some guidance via a pm if you like. Most professionals wouldn't even try this, because they know how difficult it is, they would just go for some other easier tried and tested pose. That's why I do not want to discourage by criticising it, every day I see the effect of playing it safe or copying others has on professional output and I don't like it.

Yep...

... When I explore the photo of Jill a little longer, I come to think that to go for a more free-style hair-do that moves with the breeze would be a better match for the bare feet and the nice long grass that stretches for miles.

Going a little wilder might not have hurt at all.

Just my humble thoughts...

Yes David please PM me with your thoughts. The posing, props ect are something I had let my wife do as I concentrated on just getting the technical stuff down. The feet were planned by my wife and Jill.
I also don't want to be a cookie cutter photographer. We had many standard takes, safe shots and poses but also a few caution to the wind types.
