A few months back KB and I took a trip to Big Bend for a little hiking and photography. Big Bend is one of the most beautiful spots in Texas, and in the whole U.S. as well. Here are a few of my favorites from the trip.

Great stuff John, it’s amazing that you could get two such completely different photos from almost the same vantage point in #3 and #4 and I guess a similar thing possibly with #6 and #8 although you would never know it. I like the El Castellon B&W and the last sunrise is even better than the first two…just, I think. It looks like a great place for dramatic photos and you have got some excellent ones there.

Hi John, : )
How different each photo and its atmospherics are! I love them all. Especially the sky offered exceptional opportunities for some magnificent light paintings, shadows and striking silhouettes.
Kevin provides a good scale for determining the height of the Century Plant = Height of Kevin Barret * 3. : ) That photo is probably in his Flickr account.
By the way, I wish it was I who could walk along the Santa Elena Canyon. Must be a humbling feeling being there...
Thanks for sharing,
Yildiz

I like how your 10-20mm is so slimming with me down in the corner there.
By the way, here are some of my own images from Big Bend NP on Flickr:

Since this is John's thread, I'll start by putting up a few shots of him before I hijack it...
And here's the shot that I was lining up when John got my portrait there...
And this is from the same canyon as John's image above, shot with the Sony WX150:

Portrait of a cactus, which started a recurring theme in my photography that weekend, but none of the others were as good as this one:
A couple of vaqueros on the trail beside the Rio Grande at Boquillas Canyon:
A pretty little birdie building its nest:
A section of the wild horizon a little after sunrise:

Dusty, that's definitely not gasoline, but liquor
