For wildlife photography with telephoto lenses, at high shutter speeds, using smaller apertures, and under dim light, I need the highest ISO performance available. To this end, I've been testing a Sony A99 at extreme ISO's. Here are some initial results. All were shot under natural light with the A99 and the Sony 70-400 (SAL-70400G) lens. All of these photos are uncropped, and I used no noise reduction in processing.
1. ISO 6400 (sixty-four hundred)
2. ISO 10000 (ten thousand)
3. ISO 12800 (twelve thousand eight hundred)

It’s a drug Doc, repeat after me, I will not fall into temptation…I shall not covert…
Besides, the body is just the start, soon you’ll be looking at various Zeiss and G lenses with a glazed expression…totally gone…beyond help.

I think what ever Doc caught is contagious too.

I want one.
I think I will go for the lens first. And then the body.
