Sometimes I am more interested in the colour and shape in a picture than the focus and dof etc. Here are some from my recent trip to the Isle of Skye.

Nex 5, the first with SEL 18-55, and the second with SEL 55-210.

I love the soft orange glow in the first one and the slightly more than a hint of foreground
detail in the last one as the Sun is setting. Is the panorama in camera or stitched? Looks
very nice.

The pano is an in-camera job. It coped quite well with the wide dynamic range shooting in to the setting sun. There is some banding which I struggled to get rid of.

Superb shots. Wow, you're giving new ideas to tackle.

The first and last one for me. Great colors in the first and good composition in the last make these images. Great stuff Andy!

Hi Mark111 - Runrig are a great band - I like the youtube link. I notice the same Youtube contributor also did this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYMn7uZD1gs which features the Peatbog Faeries, who are probably my favourite Isle of Skye group . I've even seen them live in Shropshire!

The hazy cloud is interesting. It had been a pretty clear day of uninterrupted sunshine on Skye. The Western Isles (the Uists, Harris and Lewis) lie to the West across the Minch and can have completely different weather. As it has been dry and the wind was low there was a lot of heather burning going on. This is carried out in a controlled way each year to encourage new growth and is supposedly beneficial to wildlife as well as to the sheep who graze on the heather etc. Could this much cloud come from burning the heather? All of the other onlookers on this evening thought so. It did create a spectacular effect, although it also masked the cliffs and lighthouse I was hoping would be lit by the sun's last rays!
