Good morning Grand Caliph.
Am I missing something or have you posted the same image twice?

Re: one for sury
Mick,
Here is the post Polaroid scratch and dust removal and a bw treatment of the same. It took all 1 sec for
the Polaroid filter and I leave it to you to judge if it worked since you know what to look for, in the image.
I certainly see a white spot go away and the foreground tree to the left has been improved.

Hi Sury,
I can see what you have done and agree that there's an improvement. I can also see (obviously) that your second file is in mono. Am I missing something because Mike's original two files look identical to me.
Sorry if I'm being blind or dumb!

Re: one for sury
hello Sury
i can see improvement and i do like the mono version best as there was too much blue and green dominating the original image.
and yes MickH there are two the same and no you are not dumb or blind, i had got up early and uploaded while not quite awake, i should have had my cup of char first, all the best.

Re: one for sury
I think I should have stopped after the second drink last night.
I should have addressed my reply to Mike. My apologies. I thought the
same image was posted twice so I took the first one, fixed the scratches
and removed dust using the Polaroid filter, saved it and then proceeded
with a B&W treatment. On the B&W treatment, I did not simply desaturate
the image but took the red channel version. I felt that one was better.
Hope it helps clear the confusion, MikeH and MickH.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: one for sury
Mike,
Before I flog this one dead, I thought I give it one more try and worked on the color one
and the B&W version of the color. I did PWL (painting with light) to improve shadows and highlights,
removed "haze", boosted the image. It was fun and did not take any time at all.
With best regards,
Sury

Re: one for sury
Mike,
You may want to get that Polaroid utility. That works under Photoshop too as a filter.
Best of all it is free.

Sury, could you give me a link, I'm having trouble finding it (in fact it's bringing something totally different from what you're describing).sury wrote:Mike,

Re: one for sury
Doc,
Looks like Polaroid does not have it on its site.
Try this one and see. If not, I may have the installer (I lost quite a bit when my old computer died a year ago.)

Re: one for sury
hi sury
i did find it and installed as plug in, by the way i had chat with local processer shop they do not scan slides or negs with normal scanners but use a mask? and insert it in their machine. i had some slides done and they had no noise or no grain, i am thinking that perhaps my epson perfection v500 might be creating digital noise, i suppose it is just a form of digital camera after all.
any way thanks sury for the good dialogue.
