Mojave Desert Afternoon to Evening

The open desert on a still day gives me peace, especially in the late afternoon through dusk as the lowering sun position and developing twilight change the colors of the landscape.
These photos were taken at a Mojave dry lake bordered by the historic Route 66 in California. Under all lighting conditions the salty soil in the mounds of a saltworks on the lake bed are more reflective than their surroundings.
1. Afternoon (Sony A99 with Sony 70-400).

2. Late sunset (Sony A99 with Sony Zeiss 24-70).

3. Evening twilight (Sony A99 with Sony 70-400.)
