Old Cars

It is most probable that all of us here love to photograph old and vintage cars. I remember many shots of old cars here in this forum, specially by Tom (Ursa Major), but couldn't find them, so why not begin a new topic.
So here is one, shot with a99 and, surprise, surprise... SAL2875

Good thread idea, especially since there are so many vintage cars out there that still function nicely.
This one is a tiny beauty, Dr. Harout. No parking problem.
Enjoy your lens. The result looks good to the eye.
Have you taken us to the streets of France or where with this photo? Somewhere in Europe probably. ..
Nice context, the vintage car and the background.

Lovely 2CV picture Doc, and a great idea for a thread. I hope Kevin pops by with some of his old car pictures as well.
I hope this qualifies as it is an old car, but it wasn't so old when the picture was taken as it is an old picture as well
. Your 2CV shot reminded of it (although I think I have posted the shot before, a scan from an old P&S file camera). This was the first car I bought. We had many, many happy days and road trips in this. It was slow (602cc air cooled engine!), cold in the winter and the breaks were not terribly good, but it went anywhere, it was easy to fix yourself, and the roof came down
. This picture was taken just after we'd arrived on the Isle of Mull on our first trip to the Hebrides 20+ years ago.

Both good shots in pleasant settings. Most of my old car shots were taken at vintage shows, and as a result have many undesirable objects in the scene. For instance this shot of an old Austin Seven (straight jpg conversion from raw file).
However, with a bit of work even these can be turned into works of art.

Cool thread and ditto cars. Although I don't drive myself, I can appreciatie beautiful cars.
That Citroën you posted is nicknamed a "lelijke eend" in my country. It roughly translates to "ugly duck"... I wonder why

It was produced from 1962 through 1967 during which around 4500 examples were produced with most going to the United States. The vehicles were produced in Germany and borrowed many components from European automobile manufacturers. The engine, located in the rear, is courtesy of the Triumph Hearld. The 1147 cc power-plant produces nearly 45 horsepower to the rear wheels and can propel the vehicle to a top speed of 70 mph on land and 6-8 knots in the water. The transmission and some of the fuel system components came from Porsche while the suspension and braking system came from Mercedes.

Even though it was only produced for five years, it did accomplish something that has not yet been duplicated: production of a commercial, non-military, amphibian car. Other non-military designs have been created for travel on land and water, but none have been able to mass-produce the vehicle in quantities that the Amphicar were able to achieve.
