The C47 looks like it was actually there, it certainly makes the shot, good one, I can almost imagine the rattle of Tiger treads along with the purr of a V16 maybach happening across the channel in the Ardennes.

I guess the C47 (aka DC-3) is the best plane ever.

Seen at a local re-enactment in Wiltshire - more Warmington-on-Sea than Battle of the Bulge!
Perhaps a sepia version would suit this too? Any views? A-580 with Sigma 17-35.

The reflection in the left eye of the gentleman is distracting. I would like to
see a sepia version. This one certainly lacks the attribute of "antiquity" due
to color though I can't find anything wrong with the photo per se except for
that minor (personal) distraction.

Mike, much as I love looking at your photos and appreciate them, I found that I sort of was saddened for the era they represent. It sort of still hurts ...war always does.

But the gentlemen certainly are enjoying their day of impersonations with all the right gear and attire.

Thanks for sharing. Winston Churchill does display quite a similarity.

thanks for your comments and I do agree with you behind the smiles there were comments made about the terror people went through, older members of my family often told me very bluntly that it was at best grim and dour existence, at its worse horrors they could only imagine.
In some ways the event I took pictures of should reminds us, or at least it does me anyway, that the faces in old war time newsreels were real people with real fears, and hopes too, and should remind us to think that war still goes on even to day.
we should all count our blessings.

Yes, we should remember. It appears that the subjects in the first image do not remember. War looks to be the last thing on their minds. It's the only subtraction from an otherwise fine composition.
