Sandstone canyons lace the southern half of the state of Utah, ranging south to the Grand Canyon in the adjoining state of Arizona. Each canyon has its own erosional structures in shades of red, orange, and cream. Bryce Canyon is known for its tall spires and corrugated walls that bounce the morning light, creating a "glow" that lures viewers and photographers from around the world. (Most of the people I met on the trails spoke French and German.) Here are examples of the attraction, all viewed from various points along the rim of the main canyon. Camera and lens: Sony A99 and Sony-Zeiss 24-70 f/2.8.

The spires look amazing - incredible to think the 'random' action of wind and rain created these shapes.

Yes I agree those Canyon photos are amazing scenic beauty, although I wouldn’t like to get lost in there it would be more of a maze if you were down in it.

Thanks Yildiz. This was my first trip to Bryce Canyon. The thought crossed my mind it is the Cappadocia of the U.S. (without the dwellings).

Yes, they did remind me of Cappadocia also but Bryce Canyon is definitely different geologically and is more striking with the angled sharp-edged rock formations as opposed to the more smooth surfaces of the Anatolian rock formations.
