Re: Introducing Year of the Alpha – 365 Days of Sony Alpha
I like the fact that there are two images in one. The street scene and the reflections seen.

I really like the perspective of the church along with the stained glass lit up and the color of the sky. Beautiful.
I agree with Sury on the two images in one. I think the reflections make the shot but then again, without the person walking away the shot wouldn't be as great. Well composed.

I like the details and the story in this one Toni. The longer I look the more interesting details come out. The reflections to show you what is across the street. The person walking away. What the shop is selling. Etc. a really compelling street picture
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

Sury, I've learned that sometimes you have great eye for opening and explaining the image just a few words! It's like you compress what I had in my mind and express it in one sentence. Thanks for that!sury wrote:I like the fact that there are two images in one. The street scene and the reflections seen.

Thanks Hefay. You know I had to wait quite a long for that person to come by. When I saw the red jacket I got nervous if I would get her captured in the right place with the right pose - counting steps helps a lot in a situation like this.the_hefay wrote:I really like the perspective of the church along with the stained glass lit up and the color of the sky. Baptism by car wash! I kind of liked it myself too - and found really odd that someone would name a machine like that..bakubo wrote:Lots of cool photos. This one caught my eye. Thanks for posting!Kalainen wrote: Season of Photographic Eye - Picture 6

Season of Photographic Eye - Picture 11
Week 50, Wednesday - Ice Swimming
"The photographic eye, which I've been discussing for whole season, is all about learning your own way of seeing things, applying it to your photography in a more conscious way and bringing greater depth & personal style to your photography. The opposite of using the photographic eye are the numerous images we often take which just 'snapshots' or uninteresting in other ways. Now, when it comes to taking interesting images that in some way manifests one's photographic eye, I'll be first one to admit that most of the shots I take are 'snapshots' indeed and only few of many really satisfy me. I find myself often thinking that a good image cannot be just a flat representation of the reality. Instead the photographer has to add something to it by using photographic means which lifts it beyond a snapshot. The obvious following question is, of course, how one should to do that? [...]"

Season of Photographic Eye - Picture 12
Week 50, Saturday - Fantasies in dark
"With the previous post I wrote about different ways how one can lift an ordinary snapshot to another level and convey that photographic eye into his/her photography. My answers where quite general like constructing a skillful images, evoking reactions and creating pictures that have more than one level of experience. It made me think how I approach the photography in a certain situation myself. How do I find that photographic eye in a practical level? It's difficult to explain really, but here's my explanation. [...]"

Season of Photographic Eye - Picture 13
Week 51, Wednesday - Modern human
"In the core of photographic eye is the visual taste. Having a refined visual taste is arguably one of the most important factors that guide one's photography - creative as well as technical decisions. Having a certain taste convoyed through your photographic eye separates you from other people, and in the end, has a potential to make your photography personal and unique. However, it's very difficult to define taste with words. [...]"

I really like the color in the window scene. And I really like the lack of color in the headless mannequin shot.
