Weather Today-In Your Vicinity 2014
Well, Happy New Year to all at PCA!
Since no one else has started this traditional thread, I will this year, even if I don't have photo to add. As most of your regulars know, that's not really needed on this thread, it's as much discussion on the weather as it is photos that are weather related.
The night of Jan 1st we had about 2 or 3 inches of snow, and today (Jan 3rd) I woke up to 2F/-16C temps! Tomorrow will see a high of 41F/-5C, but starting 6+ inches of snow. I guess that means no Church on Sunday.
Sundays Forecast says an overnight low of -10F-23C, and a high Monday of 1F-17C. I may have to move the chicken coop into the garage!
Post your weather related pics or just talk about the weather at your leisure!

Very nice!
Re: Weather Today-In Your Vicinity 2014
It was cloudy early on, but most of the day it was bright and sunny. Unfortunately that didn't keep the temps from dropping. It was +10f/-12c at noon and 0f/-17c at 4:30pm when I took this picture. Currently at 11:00pm it's -13f/-25c.
This particular photo is not really anything special, except I do like the sunburst. I wanted to include it because was with my Tokina 11-16mm and thought someone here might be interested in the performance. Almost no pp, just hit the auto fix in PE. Anyways, I know this thread is about weather so, if you have a lot of comments or questions specifically about the lens, you can post them on the thread I started which can be found at the following link. http://www.photoclubalpha.com/forum/vie ... 791#p85791 There's probably a better way to link to another thread, just not sure how to do it.

We had the cold, but didn't have to deal with the snow. Looks like it's coming down pretty good there.

Re: Weather Today-In Your Vicinity 2014
Ken, our daughter and her husband flew back from Minnesota on Sunday. Seems they missed the best They decided to spend Christmas with Minnesotan friends (college daya, now starting a family) and rented a log cabin at Luck next to something called Big Lake - but I think there are lots of those. The owners had set up a tree, put lights all round, log fire, everything perfect for them with real Christmas white snow (which we actually do not get very often in Scotland). They had a great time in minus 20 etc because they had arrived with serious arctic-quality clothing and footwear, but their Minnesota friends only had fleeces and trainers... because they never actually leave the house for more than a minute in winter!
They then got a couple of days in Chicago, a day in Minnesota downtown (spookily empty) and their flight went about six hours before all the snow descended.

Re: Weather Today-In Your Vicinity 2014
Not weather today, but it is weather tonight. I was hoping to see the arora from the big solar flare, but alas, it wasn't my luck. Anyways here's how I spent 5 minutes and 21 seconds of my evening, or perhaps morning, since it was taken after midnight.
