Sury the first one I bought at a greenhouse but probably grows in the wild somewhere in Colombia. The second one I found growing wild. Both are visited by longer billed hummingbirds like Bronzy Inca and Tawny-bellied Hermit. There is a much larger flowered epiphytic Kohleria that grows in my woods. It is pollinated by bats. I'm waiting for it to flower so I can get a Sony picture of it.

Thanks Pitter. Very interesting. I did not know that Bats pollinated flowers.

Good experiment. Hard to tell the light location in some.

Pitter, my apologies for the ambiguity. The first one is the wireless flash experiment.
The other two are regular backyard shots.

Sury I meant that the light source not being apparent made the photo interesting.

This is Cremosperma castroanum. It grows almost un noticed on the floor of premontain cloud forest. I believe it is a kind of begonia.

Thank you Pitter and that is an interesting plant. The leaves with needle like extensions
it almost feels like cactus.

This a wild Kohleria that grows in my woods, Kohleria tigridia. It is always associated with a tree so I would call it epiphytic. It is the one I referred to that is pollinated by bats.
