RMS Queen Mary 2 10th Birthday

Unread post by Ossie »

On Friday 9th May, Cunard celebrated the 10th anniversary of RMS Queen Mary II coming into service. The three Cunard Queens were all berthed at Southampton. I was only able to get to Southampton for early evening and to see the “birthday” fireworks. Here are a few of the images I was able to capture.

All taken with A700 + 70-300mm G

Nice set Keith. Those liners always evoke the memory of luxury and golden years of yore,
a time of chivalry, and civility.

Sury, Thank you. They are huge ships but to me they lack the elegance of their earlier namesakes. It was a very impressive sight that was made even more memorable when all three ships sounded their horns together. An amazing sound.

the-Hefay. Thank you . They are my first attempt at taking photographs of a firework display.

I agree these modern ships lack the graceful lines and elegance of their namesakes of yesteryears.
I am sure they more than compensate for the "ride comfort" and spaciousness the new ones offer.
