Just because I always drive by this sugar factory and say I ought to take a picture of it at night but never do. That is until last night, and it was somewhere around 7 f (-14 c) so I was bit on the chilly side. By the way does anyone have any recommendations for cold weather photography gloves? Something thin enough to allow use of the buttons, but does a good job of keeping the chill away? Back on subject, the last shot is of a gas plant outside of town.

Wonderful, dramatic shots - love the cloud of steam, and the lights.
I wear some neoprene gloves intended for people shooting with guns as opposed to cameras. They allow you to pop your first fingers and thumbs out. I like them as they deal well with the wet. Not so sure they are right for very cold weather. The Camera Store, who are based in Canada, have just reviewed some gloves. Not watched it yet, but might be useful.

Thanks Andy. Shooting gloves might be the thing. I should be able to find some out here in the "wild west." I'm also going to check out the link you posted.

I think your shots show that you don't need gloves.....the_hefay wrote:Just because I always drive by this sugar factory and say I ought to take a picture of it at night but never do. Thanks Sury and Ossie. But as far as the gloves go, I'm glad I had the truck to jump in as soon as I was done shooting.

I like the color.

I came across this photo I took back in April, 2008. It was with my Sony a100 and Minolta 70-210 (not the famed beer can f/4 lens). I did a little pp in LR.

Re: Just because...Open thread
Here's another from a while back. I'm spending too much time indoors right now and am just going through some of my older shots that I took in RAW but never did anything with because I knew absolutely nothing about RAW files or how to process them (I'm only slightly better now) and so they just took up space. This one is with the Sony a100 and cz 16-80mm back in 2012.

Good stuff well a camera's a camera I might take out the old 5d's for a bit of fun after seeing these. Gloves yes I'm on the look out for something good too, being comfortable helps a lot out and about in the cold
