Re: Bokeh is the focus - Open thread
In 1951 Voigtlander released it's version of the benchmark high speed 50/1.5 double gauss first introduced by zeiss in 1931. Only small numbers in LTM mount, but the lens became known as the best 50 for a time. Here wide open:

I was confused by your comment "Here is wide open". You are referring
to the cat's image right? Very sharp for wide open setting.

Interesting shot Henry. Are they identical?
Just curious.

nothing like the Leica M and older LTM mounts for so many lens options with a great variety of bokeh. The oldest lens I use is from 1937, the newest was made in 2012

Nice shots Charlie. I am taken aback by the prices on these bodies. The 60th edition of M is US $19,500.
I know Leica is an excellent brand but a 18MP camera costing few thousands of dollars? I am curious what
makes them special? Cachet?

Hi RareTA;
That's a very beautiful aproach to photography; I love the fact that you actually focused on the obviously more trivial subject which is the dehydrated weed and kept the more important subject, the beautifully trotting horse to the imagination of the viewer. Sometimes photography and its main subjects must be left to the imagination...Art is not about High Definition. : )
Nice catch of the repetition in the bokeh, bakubo.
I like Spring Aspen in the second shot better than the cat shots CharlieWebster. Somewhat the cat shots have very busy backdrops, altough the cat itself Works nicely.
Thank you for sharing,
Yildiz

Usually these buddhas that you see on temple grounds are similar, but with different facial expressions. I don't recall in this particular case though.sury wrote:Interesting shot Henry. Are they identical?

That shot with Drill Instructor's back to us, conveys the scenes from numerous
war movies in one shot (no pun intended).

Thank you for all the kind words. It keeps me wanting to get better at taking photos. I won't say photographer because I'm far from being in that category.
Here are a couple I got at a farmers market I Crown Point Indiana last fall.

Actually it's the golden age for those of us who want a digital Leica but are not rich. A used perfect M9 is about 3200 and M240 about 4500, and MM about the same.
The Leica glass is the best in the world from 18mm to 135mm, with no AF or zoom to complicate tolerances. All three of those cameras are very different, the M9 a CCD with the look of color slide film, the M240 CMOS 24 MP and the MM a fully monochrome camera sharpest of any available.
Of course, as always, Leica has some "special editions" which cost way more for one reason or another: none important LOL The Leicas are a joy to shoot, no prism, no EVF, just nice bright light and the RF split image in the center.
Here is the A7.mod with 1979 Canon FL 55/1.2 wide open:
