Here's some night shots from a couple of places in Arequipa, Peru. The first two are at the Plaza de Armas and the third is next to the court house.

Here's 3 more. A couple places around town and the last is the cathedral at the Plaza de Armas.

And here's the last two. The first is from the roof of a building at the Plaza de Armas. The second one is the court house. This is the first night I saw the interior lights on at night and I really like the stained glass.

Fantastic sets Jeff. You have outdone yourself. The first one is outstanding.

I'll be here for several months. As far as a purpose in learning the language, I'm a Christian and am wanting to help missionaries in Central and South America specifically in countries that speak Spanish. I will most likely be heading to Mexico or Bolivia after my language training to help some missionaries I know in those places. I ended up in Peru because of the recommendation of a friend of a friend and because most language schools I emailed never replied. There was one in Bolivia that replied but the reply was that there wouldn't be language training this year. There was a reply from a place in Costa Rica, but after further investigation, I felt like it wasn't really what I was looking for. So, I'm in Peru. And I love it here.

The cathedral suffered a lot during the last earthquake (2001), they have done a really good restoration job.
already get used to rocoto? or spicy food is not for you?

I love spicy food, so yeah, the rocoto is perfectly hot and spicy. Though the one I had yesterday burned something fierce. And of course I couldn't get a waitress to come back and refill my glass of tea.

This is the Plaza at Mirador Portales de Yanahuara. It's winter and the temp tonight is 59 F. I think I could get use to living here.
