So gave in to inducements...
There definitely is a learning curve. Any tips and tricks are much appreciated.
All of them at 1.8. No artistic merit to the images but testing the lens.

All nice photos Sury. I really like the 3rd shot.

Often simpler is better.

Welcome to the dark side. Or should I say low light side.
Here is a tip for you. Take lots of pictures. You will be fine. Also, a DOF calculator helps as well.
#2 is close to my heart.

Thank you David and JB. Yep. Lots of pictures is the key. That lens has an attitude
and requires adjustment of mine.
The first couple of them got me worried that I had a bad copy. Soon I realized it was
not the lens that needs fixing but I needed fixing. So I went and fixed a nice Single Malt
for me. Things started looking better thereafter.

It taught me to see small and narrow. Then to juxtapose that narrowness with it's surroundings.
It's a great journey that you are on. Have fun.

Don't worry too much about the will power, Sury. You know what they say about son-in-laws and daughters: "You're not losing your daughter, you're gaining a son." As long as that 'son' is good quality, you are unharmed by the change.
And that 135mm 1.8 ZA looks like a very handsome, smart and long-term quality son. Will save you many a photo.

Good luck with new need for disk space, as it appears you may be in for more new 'sons' ... : ))

Thank you. I am enjoying the lens. I am waiting for my daughter to come back from Europe.
(For those uninitiated, she is my "resident" model for portrait experiments.)
She is spending her time in Italy in a summer abroad program at her University and decided
to backpack few cities in Europe with one of her friends.

But... you haven't met my son though.
I am wondering why did I wait this long to buy this lens.

Hi Sury;

I was speaking metaphorically actually; the 'son or son-in-law' in that sentence was used in place of your new Zeiss lens. Sometimes thinking about the price may deprive us of the enjoyment of what is to be gained by the acquisition.

I think we saw your son in some of the earlier shots... rather indirectly.

Your present photo subjects, the flowers, are doing just fine. Flowers make for great subjects as JBTaylor proves by his countless shots.
