Redemption

I tried portrait shots last Saturday. I am still getting the hang of the lens and any suggestions
for improvement are most welcome.A700/900 with CZ135f1.8

One of the rare times where Missus was happy with her picture.

Candid shot. On this one, I am interpreting as I am given opportunity to acquire either 1 more lens or body.

Just keep shooting with it. You are getting great results already. Of course the subject matter may have something to do with it as well.
Can't wait until you slap that baby onto the a7r11.

Great pictures Sury. The first one is my favorite and in the last one I can almost hear her saying, "huh-uh Sury. I said one more toy, not two. Now be a good boy and put one of them back."

Jeff, thank you. Yes, indeed, she is admonishing me. No A7RII AND FE90f2.8.

Some how as I am reading about that new body, I am not going through as much existential angst as I did with this lens.
I am still not sure about the benefits of A7RII versus a future A9xx if there is one. Like most of the things of photography, this
is also a want, and I am in the wait.

One more. Bokeh too harsh/strong?

Just commenting on the need to always have more. While definitely a co conspirator on the lens, I will not try to tempt you on the camera.
One thought, it seems that you are reserving room for the bokeh at the expense of the subject. Images 1 and 2 strike a more pleasing balance than 3 and 4. As I suggested before, keep shooting. This is especially true when you have such a lovely subject. #1 is outstanding.

JB, In fact, Jaya is very self conscious of her weight and what I am finding is that images with portrait orientation and a bit of negative space above her seem to make her feel better rather than tight crops. In fact I realized that effect while experimenting with this lens. I may be be overdoing perhaps. Will keep in mind for the next session(s). This time hopefully I can get my daughter join in too.
Certainly this lens has been a charmer. I think I am mentally getting ready for a new (camera) body and it is slowly becoming a matter of when rather than if.

Eye level and above gets you both where you want to be.
She is lovely. It is plain to see. Again, #1 is the standard. It is a professional shot for both photographer and model.
Eyes are sharp. Earrings, not so much. All the better.
I never let anyone take my picture. I sympathize with her. However, the two of you can have great memories through photos and we don't have to see them. The way she smiles at you in images 2 and 4 are reward enough.
Keep shooting.

Thank you for the pointers and for the nifty observation about earrings. I must confess it turned out
that way since I was focusing on eyes (no pun intended).

Once again thank you for your feedback. My wife was tickled pink when I conveyed the feedback from
forum, and that shot is something she is very excited about, a rare occurrence indeed.

Background on Redemption: My wife thinks I "tricked" her into saying yes for buying the lens. The auction
was ending in few hours and I asked her after she retired to bed and just before falling asleep.
It was not like I was waiting for "proper" moment.
She claims she had no idea what I was asking for that night. Hence when she proclaimed "you are
forgiven" after seeing that photo, I knew I had a winner. Though I tried hard to defend my innocence about
the purchase. That is the background of my redemption.

The 'background for the lens purchase' served the background of the subjects. I believe that this lens will serve some beautiful, memorable moments as time goes by.

Thank you. Also she is pretty forgiving too.
In all honesty, I talk about taking her permission
etc purely in lighter vein. She is very indulgent
when it comes to my LL and GAS.
