These photos I took last night during the eclipse and the blood moon.

This photo is just the sunset. As long as we were out of the city I thought I'd grab a photo of the sunset also. It is a merge of 5 bracketed photos.

Great collection there, Ken. Unfortunately I missed the Eclipse due to cloud coverage.

Thank you Sury. Luckily we had a clear sky last night and it wasn't even cold. We went about 10 miles south of town to get away from the lights. I was hoping it would be nice last night because it's anyone's guess if we will be around in 2033 to see it again.

Well, it would be 2033 before we see a Super Moon Eclipse, but hope to catch some lunar eclipses interim.

Sweet, I really like that second one. If I may ask how did you do it? In the meantime here is another of the eclipse last night.

The second one was all photo shop. I took pictures at different stages of eclipse (and since background is all black) I layered them in Photoshop and did an erase. The base layer in the above example is the first moon shot (to the left). The second one is overlaid and erase all the image on layer 2 to reveal the moon in the bottom layer. Then overlay 3rd moon shot and erase the left side of that image to reveal the moon in the bottom two layers. Since all the shots are (kind of) centered, I had to move and align the layers 4 on. Since the back ground is black, it was not that difficult. Tedious but not difficult. Hope this helps since I presume you may have multiple images showing different phases of the eclipse. You can PM if you have any questions.

On the first and third one, may I suggest the following to remove the whitish circle around the Moon. That is the artifact from sharpening. Give the technique a try and see if it helps.

Try selecting the Moon with the circle tool or your method of choice for selection, contract it by about 2 pixels to isolate the very outer ring of the image, invert the selection so that you have mostly the sky & a tiny bit of the Moon, feather by 3 to 5 pixels and then run the AVERAGE Blur. It will blur the sky into that bright ring and make it look natural. These are instructions for Photoshop ... similar approaches can be done with any PP S/W.

Great pictures chaps. My wife was kind enough to wake me up at 3.30am (!) so I got a quick peak, but too tired to go out and take a picture. So, grateful to everyone else who did .
