Trying out the B&W picture effects mode on the RX1.

Love the B&W treatment JB.
A bit of increased local contrast of the
stained glass would enhance the image, me thinks.
The stained glass looks too high key for my liking.

I like the in-camera B&W treatment. The first one is my favourite...
The interiors reminded me more of the interior of a cathedral with the crosses, giant stained glass and the majestic dome with those external columns and intricate work certainly give the impression of a church-like place. But the American eagle certainly suddenly changes the context of the scene.

Trying to figure out if I should consider the range of tones before composing or after. Typically, I just see shapes when composing.

Am I over thinking this?

The B&W really emphasise shapes, textures and contrast and I think these work well in the Academy. I like 3 and 5 best - the dark pews are a nice contrast to the white walls.
