In the second half of the month of June I along with my husband Arun went on a two week motorcycle tour of Kinnaur-Lahaul-Spiti. I am posting three images taken at Dhankar. The first two have been taken by me using Sony A77II. The third one is by Arun using his Nikon.

I took this shot on the very first day when we were just approaching Dhankar. It was 11 A.M. I think the light condition was not good at that time to take a good shot.

On the second day I caught Monastery in the early morning light (about 3894 meters). The mountain range at the back was receiving the early rays while the monastery was still in the dark shade.

One day Arun took this snap while I was trekking towards the Dhankar Lake (about 4270 meters)

Nice Set. I do find first one a tad overexposed. I found the same with some of my A77MII shots of Machu Pichu.
I had the Exposure Compensation dialed to +2 by accident. Rear dial default setting in any mode except M.
The mountains and water look like a water color in the 3rd one - nicely captured.

Hi Shelika; :)

I personally think that the exposure is too much as well. I love the scenery and the subjects, though. Unique landscapes and dwellings in the rock surfaces. Contrast appears to be either too much or too little. I think the last photo is my favourite.

Thanks for sharing,

Yildiz

Three more images from Nako. All taken with A77MII.
The ancient Nako village. The old style houses are constructed in such a way that they remain cool in summers and warm and cozy in winter.

Another kind of village down in the valley which has a little modernized structures as seen from the Nako village.

I thought to include my motorcycle photo as the thread topic has the "motorcycle" in it. Of course I was a pillion rider and not the driver. I just wanted to have a pose with it.

Thanks for providing a glimpse into those less known places.
The colors look very saturated on my monitor. Are the places that lush? If not, the
saturation (and perhaps contrast) needs to be toned down tad, IMHO.

Three more images from Nako Village
Early morning we encountered this shimmering reflection in the small but ancient Nako lake.

Then we went into the narrow streets of the village. This boy said he won't go to school for studying. He does not like it. I told him it is good to go to school like other boys in the village. I hope he would start attending his school.

The villagers had these kinds of mani stone over their doorways. Perhaps written in Tibettan script they carried the sacred words of their scriptures.

She was proceeding towards the Buddhist monastery. She was one of the villagers who were enthusiastically painting the walls of the monastery white. With a scarf around her face in order to avoid a splash of paint on her face she was going to celebrate the coming festival wherein there would be dance and prayer for three days.

We started on our motorcycle towards Tabo from Nako. The road went higher and higher unexpectedly and we might have touched around 4000 meters in height. It was tough without a tarred road.

It did give us sometimes a little fright as the road was still climbing and climbing with no vehicle on the roads for miles together though the landscapes were good enough to keep us going somehow. Down below, whenever we dared to look, we could have glimpses of Spiti river.

Love the portrait. I can only imagine you getting scared in such desolate locations,
not to mention altitude. I see the bottom two images tad over saturated. Are the
locations that vivid?

Shri Suri and Shri Bakubo
Thanks for the feedback. My laptop seems not to give true colors and my desktop monitor which is better has got fused. However, banking upon your feedback i have tried to reduce saturation.
Thanks also to Shri Bakubo. I have gone through your Indian images and found them quite diversified.
