Re: A99-2
The first one seem to be a bit noisy on my monitor, Valery. Second one is clean and sharp for a mirror lens.
I would like to see more details on the third one but I am sure beats the heck out of carrying a heavy set up.

Yes, the first picture was taken from the ferry, although it was quite large, it swayed strongly, and there was little light, I had to use high ISO and a high shutter speed. The last shot in the series of "battle" of a little falcon with jays. I don’t know what they didn’t share, but it took more than one hour to figure it out. The jays attacked the falcon, then the falcon attacked them. I don't know what they shared. Well, the camera worked great. Although it is quite difficult to shoot with a light and short 500mm lens, it is very deceiving, I often get a lot of shake blur or motion blur. Especially they fly very fast...

Wow. In a situation like that I take what I get and you got plenty good shots. I am glad you had a long FL
lens with you, not withstanding its limitation (being a slow lens).

The Minolta 500F8 is definitely not a slow lens.
This is a dark F8 lens, it's true, and as I said, a short and light lens with which it is easy to fool yourself and get a blurry shot.
Like example:
And from the same position good shots.

Of course, I recorded the A99-2 video.jbtaylor wrote:Do you ever shoot video with the a99II?
I seem to be one version behind.
That lens seems to be quite the challenge.
When do you decide to carry it along?

Works great, small clips for example.

About the Minolta (Sony) 500F8 lens, yes this is a specific lens, it takes a little practice to get normal images, but I needed a lens with a focal length of more than 450mm for full format. If before I got by with A77-2 + Tamron 70-300 USD(450mm), then after the A77-2 broke down, I stayed with the A57. The A57 is a great camera, but it's not quite what I need.
Minolta 500F8 is a very compact and lightweight lens with 500mm, I will use it quite often in nature. Now I have shot new pictures, and I will post them here a little later.

Yes, these days with digital f8 is not as slow as it was with film. Shooting film I typically shot ASA 25, 50, 64, 100 for slide film and ASA 100, 200, and 400 with print film. Now with digital one can easily go up to high ISO and get great quality. And with film there was no IS, but now you have IBIS using the lens.ValeryD wrote: The Minolta 500F8 is definitely not a slow lens.
