I like the cat which btw feels sleepy.
The texture of the woods are great but it would've been much better if the lines drew your sight towards the cat not away from it. But that's only me

I love the way that the grain in the wood compliments the pattern of the cat's fur. The cat's face looks sharp and the rest falls off in a nice dof. A subject that seems to really suit B&W. Care to share how you did the B&W conversion? I like the picture a lot. It seems to be saying "I'm waiting patiently beside a mouse hole"!

Great shot! I love the textures, the DOF, everything. Unlike the Doc, I think the floor and the direction of the wood helps. It draws the eye into the remaining depth of the image, and the shapes there help keep my eye on the page. It could probably work with a closer crop on the cat, but I think this image is more interesting.

I don't think he was sleepy but he is getting pretty old and worn from fights with neighbourhood "friends"

Glad to hear that you liked it I will post some info on my B&W workflow later when I have more time, but it is nothing fancy. I have an old version of Paint Shop Pro 8.1 - it works for me

I think I'm with you here regarding the direction of the floor Kevin... But it would probably work nice the way Doc suggested it too

Thought a cat photo would appeal to Sonolta but maybe he's got too much fanboyizm to fight off

Actually it's not my cat,he belongs to the in-laws

We've had four cats ourselves, and two of them are still alive:
Pysen (roughly means "dude" in swedish - I didn't name him! )

Always having trouble photographing him in bright light because he is both bright white and dark black/brown, he simply gets his highlights blown

I've never seen this kind before, they have very prominent facial features and very nice tosseled fur. How old are they? They look as though they're still in their 'kitten-months' in these photos...beautiful eyes...

May I inquire as to the subject your cat prefers to shoot? He surely seems to be taking it very seriously! And also would be overjoyed to hear how he keeps his camera sensor free of cat fur?

#1 is outstanding! You just focus on these 2 huge blue eyes!!

Great shots Don and Zeb. There is so much detail in those shots I can feel my cat allergy coming on I'd like to put a vote in for Måns - I really like the pattern in his fur and the contrast of this with the yellow eyes.

Grandpa Willie is very good-looking and fine cat, Sonolta, No wonder the kittens are so lovely!

This thread taught a little more on photographing cats and exposures also.

Meet XiaoMin . A pity stray cat adopted by my friend around a year ago. Suffer from mulnutrition during that time she enter my friend's house, but now, a healthy cheerful teenage cat.
