And a big welcome from me too.
Re: Hello from Kent
A welcome from me as well Sonyboy. That is exciting sounding kit you have there. There are some great bird photographers on the forum and so I'm sure you will learn a lot. kingfisher and RobbieA are two members that spring to mind and so search for their posts if you haven't seen them yet.
The dawn chorus is starting to reach fever pitch here in Worcestershire. As a birdwatcher is this considered a better, worse or average time of year? I noticed today that the Goldfinches have returned to our garden.

Hi Birma and thank you all for your welcome
Quiet time for birding, winter visitors beginning to return North no real influx of Summer visitors yet, will start to get exciting by the end of this month.

Re: Hello from Kent
I am glad the dawn chorus has NOT returned! Last yearm, we had maybe 500-1000 starlings which decided my laurel bush was their home. Three months later, the ground below was two inches deep in starlingcrap. And the noise was incredible - you could hardly hear yourself think.
This year, they have forgotten about this roost - and one bag of chicken feed lasts me about four times as long

Re: Hello from Kent
David, Can't you find something that would drive them off, short of a shotgun? If I had that problem I would google for what would drive them away. Perhaps a foul smelling substance? A fake owl or hawk to hang in another tree? I don't think I could put up with 2 inches of bird doggie-doo on my lawn!
