Hello from near Exeter

Unread post by moorefam »

Hello folks,
I have recently bought an Sony Alpha A700 after spending the Autumn wearing myself out evaluating various cameras and lenses. I have ended up with Sony 16:80mm and Tamron 70:300mm lenses and I am pleased with both. This my first serious forage into digital photography. I have had a Minolta 7000i Dynax with Sigma 28:70mm and 70:210mm lenses for many years. I also have an old heavy but sharp 300mm f4 M42 screw, preset lens, which is a legacy from older days and which I have fitted to the Sony, with an attachment which I got on the internet from China. I works well but I could do with a *1.4 TC to replace the *2 TC I have at the moment, which has serious limitations. I would also like to hook things up to my Dobsonian reflecting telescope but I'll need to keep exposures very short.
I've had the Minolta for many years and it's still a very good camera, but it is time to try and improve by experimenting and deleting poor shots instead of accumulating yet more photograph albums. I think the Sony is great and I'll need quite some time to learn to use it properly.

Best regards,

Welcome to the a-mount family - belated as it is :)

This may be of interest to others too, but visit Ebay shops, and seek out Calumet uk store. G glass, and tcons for auction!

Carl

Thanks for your interest. I have done some searching already but a TC 1.4* M42 mount is a rare beast. I could get a TC 1.4* Sony fit and then it hopefully work with my Tamron as well. What I would also like to know is how to post a few images? I can't work that out at all at the moment??

Ah, sorry, thought you mean a-mount tcon, not m42. Hmm, wonder if it may be worth checking out pentax specialists?

Img posting, lets' try this

Right, I use photobucket and copy the url link - does all hard work, or take the url and click the Img button, inserting the address between the boxes!

I had a good search on the Calumet ebayshop but found no G lenses - Do you mean Calumet UK or not?

Dave, have just checked and looks like they've sold - 70-200mm f2.8 and 35mm f1.4 G at uk shop. Didn't save them as I would just turn gradually greener and greener :)

Carlj,
I have tried using "photobucket" to upload some images too, prior to inserting a few onto this site, but it won't upload a single byte even though I have resized an image. It could be finger trouble as I haven't uploaded any images or anything else to anywhere before.

Well, puzzled from near Exeter, :)

When you've got the shots on your photobucket account, the small images will have an img box - double click and it will auto copy. paste and preview to see if it works.

I am unable to upload any images to my Photobucket account. I see others have had this problem. As they say in Devon, "I'll get there directly". PS I have now managed by attaching an image to an email. Here it is hopefully. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh79 ... esized.jpg

Now the half price sale looked even better a bargain!
