Hi,
I'm new to the Alpha world, and new to this forum. I have an A300 with the SAL 18-250. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this lens -- sharp, fast focusing, etc. But the manual focus ring has play in it and it's very difficult to manually focus with any accuracy. I'm wondering if the Tamron version would be better -- given that it doesn't focus as fast, perhaps it's not so sensitive with manual focusing. I want to do be able to do some close-up work with a walk-around lens, and I still have time to return the Sony 18-250 in exchange for the Tamron 18-250.
What do you think? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
William

No, it's not very good for manual focusing. To be honest, except at longer focal lengths you are not likely to match the AF for accuracy.
