HI all,

Actually a Brit but living out in Canada right now. My wife is Canadian.

She recently bought me A A200 with SAL1870 for my birthday, well chuffed as I've been talking about getting a DSLR for years now.

I've basically tought myself all of the functions from the manual but looking for a specialst coarse to teach me more about the art of SLR photography. I've always loved photography but only ever had Sony point and shoots in the past so finaly, I can take the picture I now want!!

Looking at several lenses right now, so many reviews to read!!! Think i'll be opting for the Sony SAL1118 and a 70-300mm, but still not decided on which brand yet.

In the UK, the Tamron 70-300mm is by far the best bargain. Do not buy the Sigma 70-300mm DL Macro - there are stories every day of the focus gears stripping. The lens is incompatible with all new cameras, it just can't handle the focus speed.
