Hello from Worcester, England ...

Unread post by Birma »

... but wishes to be in the Hebrides!

A photography and DSLR newbie. I have lurked on this list and on others for 6 months or so and decided to join the conversation. Looking forward to learning more about the technology and art of "taking pictures".

Along with the Dyxum Lens Database, I have found this site to be one he most interesting on the net - to the extent that these are the ones I eagerly return to out of hours to see what has gone on since last time. I admit to even being excited about the A900 even though I doubt I will ever own one!

Slainte!

P.S. Also subscribed to the magazine to help support the site - was I meant to include my address in the sign up process or does this come from PAYPAL?

Hi - I hadn't updated my profile when I first posted a message. I'm using the A100 which is my first SLR let alone DSLR. I've had it since the launch but I've only taken it off "P" and really started to investigate it properly in the last 6 months - mainly due to sites such as this and Dyxum.

I agree Worcestershire is a lovely county and it's been my home for over 30 years - I guess we often neglect the place that we are most familiar with compared to the exotic (although I realise that not everyone would consider the Hebrides "exotic"!) :)

I also agree that the A100 is a great camera and I have enjoyed using it and the pictures it takes so much more since investing in additional lenses. It's not just the ability to change lenses, I think more about the pictures I take because I have to think about which lens I want to use - if that makes sense. The Minolta 50 1.7 simply blew me away when I used it for the first time, and the Tamron 17-50 2.8 is also great. (Still learning to get the best from the others  )

As a Worcestershire man now living in the Yorkshire Dales I can sympathise. Worcestershire is a beautiful place I lived just north of Worcester. The Northern Hills have a drama not found in the Three Counties. Welcome!
The older I get the better I used to be.
