A350 external flash

Unread post by Astros24 »

I have an A350 and was wondering if my Quantaray PZ-1 DSZ (Minolta compatible) flash will work? I want to try it but the Sony manual states that I could ruin my camera if I use the wrong flash.

Trying to find an answer. I think David can definitely do that.

If the flash is Minolta compatible, it can not harm the Sony (or digital KM) bodies. But it will only fire at full power, automatic functions will not work. Unlike the Metz models, the Quantaray is based on a Sunpak which has no external sensor, and the TTL functions only work with film cameras. It can be pressed into use for bounce shots of groups indoors, which are nearly always at almost the full power of a flash (just make a test or two and vary the aperture to get the exposure right - try f5.6 at ISO 400 in a typical room with a family group).
