Hi from Swindon, Wilts (UK)

Unread post by ellisn »

Hello to all.

I had my a100 for about a year, sold and upgraded to a a350 2 weeks ago and in a fit of lens indecision/depression sold it and purchased the a700 which turned up this afternoon. My main reasons for living with the a350 for such a short time was I ignored the live view anyway, wanted the extra bracketing and by selling the a350, sync terminal (not needed on the a700) and the vertical grip for the a350 which I also didn't get on with (OK I could have gotten used to it but why bother) plus the £100 cash back it worked out even in cost. Only had a quick look at the a700 but like what I see, I love the fact you can change focusing modes on the back without going through the menu. I hadn't even spotted this feature before purchase. Funny thing having to reformat the memory cards, must use a different system.

Lens wise I just sold the a100 kit 75-300mm with the a350 and I am left with a SAL1680Z and a Tamron 90 f/2.8 macro. Very happy with both lenses. So I have a gap for a 70-300 so back to lens indecision :(

Initial plan was the Sony 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 G SSM Lens and this will probably win out, I get tempted by f/2.8 zooms but I'm sure their size and weight will mean their staying at home most of the time.... yes the 70300G it is..... definitely... I think

Welcome Neil.
You're on the right track. You have 2 excellent lenses, and adding a third (excellent one, i.e. 70-300 SSM G) would complete your bag.
You've done the right thing sticking with A700. You'll love it.
